While it is hard to rank rivers and lakes around the world in terms of who is the longest and world largest enclosed body of water, there are a few that stand out in the crowd. Nile River is the world’s longest river, clocking in at over 4,000 miles .The mighty river cutting through east Africa and the deserts of Egypt before emptying into the Mediterranean Sea. The Caspian is the world largest enclosed body of water as it is nearly 150,000 square miles in area and is bordered by five countries including Russia and Iran. The Yangtze River is ranked as Asia’s longest river and the third-longest river of the world. The 3,900 mile Yangtze River flows from the Tibetan Plateau across most of china before depositing itself in the East China Sea near Shanghai.



One of Britain’s most popular tourist attractions is "Loch Ness lake" .This beautiful lake is located in the Scottish highlands and according to popular legends, home to the elusive Loch Ness Monster. The Volga River is Europe’s longest river while Danube River is ranked as the second largest river in Europe with a length of roughly 1,770 miles. It begins in Germany’s black forest and then travels through eight different countries before it empties into the Black sea. The Amazon River is the home to over 3,000 species of fresh water fishes. Cheddar Gorge is Britain’s biggest canyon and is found within the Cheddar Caves, where the UK’s oldest complete human skeleton was found in 1903. Known as the Cheddar Man, the remains were estimated to be 9,000 years old



At over 25 million years old nearly a mile deep in some places, Russia’s Lake Baikal is the world’s oldest, deepest lake and holds one fifth of the world’s fresh water. In addition to being India’s holiest river, the Ganges was also made India’s national river by the Government. Hindus believe that bathing in Ganges, one of the largest rivers in the India subcontinent, can wash away one’s sins.
